This cutting board is beautifully designed to take advantage of the woods high natural oil content and anti-bacterial component in order to maximize performance, ease of use, and longevity. Hinoki Cypress own oils naturally provide a barrier against all forms of insects and rotting, and also resists shrinkage and warping. The woods weight and medium soft texture provides a stable surface that is friendly on quality knives with sharp delicate cutting edges.

The Yoshihiro Hinoki Cypress Wood Professional Grade Cutting Board take the natural traits of the Hinoki Cypress wood and designs a cutting board focused on performance, ease of use, and longevity. Hinoki is a cypress wood that is grown in Kouchi Prefecture, Japan. Its quality is regarded as the very best and is considered a top tier wood for use in cutting boards. Its high natural oil content has an anti- bacterial component, making it highly resistant to all types of insects and rotting, and also shrinkage and warping.

The natural oil also gives the wood a delicate fragrance that is enjoyable and therapeutic. By twisting the wooden stand at the bottom, the board can be made to stand by itself. The Institute for Computational Cosmology (ICC) is a leading international centre for research into the origin and evolution of the Universe at Durham University . We address some of the most fundamental questions in science: What were the first objects in the Universe? How do galaxies form? What is the nature of the dark matter and dark energy? Where does the large-scale structure of the universe come from? What is the fate of the Universe?

Ernest Rutherford Fellowship Applications 2021
We welcome applications for STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowships. There are quota limits on ERF applications and so we require all applicants to submit a CV using the STFC narrative CV template, publication list, and a short (*strict* 1 page limit) research outline, including a brief additional paragraph (not counted within the 1 page limit) on why Durham and how the project connects to Durham. In addition, please identify (and contact) a member of staff to be your academic host to support you in the preparation of your application. Please ensure that the name of your academic host is included at the top of the research outline. The deadline for these documents is the 5th August 2021 and they should be submitted to astro.secretary@durham.ac.uk.

The ICC is part of the Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics and interacts closely with the Centre for Extragalactic Astronomy and the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation in the Department of Physics. We offer both PhD and Msc postgraduate studentships.

In November 2016, the ICC moved into the brand new Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics building, designed by the world renowned Studio Daniel Libeskind. The new building now houses all three astronomy groups in the Department of Physics, including the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation and the Centre for Extragalactic Astronomy, as well as the Institute for Computational Cosmology.
